About the event

This program is specially designed for all ages who wish and want to get better knowledge on basic yoga, especially the stretching part in yoga with anatomical focus step-by-step guidance. Regardless of you are totally new to yoga or have been practicing yoga for some time, but found it hard to breathe or stretch, you are perfectly welcomed.

Lessons are structured according to themes and divided into TWO (2) main parts where Part 1 consists of 3 sessions focusing on Sun Salutation in Hatha way and Part 2, it has 5 sessions to deepen the practice in mastering basic yoga poses.

In the 90-min session, the class intensity will be gradually increased from warm-up to low-, mild-, medium intensity and relaxation. You will find every sweat and effort given in the session is so rewarding when the session comes to the relaxation.

FAQs:

  • Program-related

1. Why are there 8 sessions, just for basic yoga?

If this is your question in mind, we are happy to explain.

How many times you feel frustrated in practicing yoga at your own or in a regular yoga session? Would you feel something not right when seeing yourself doing differently from what the instructor saying in the class? Could you understand or fully feel and experience what the instructor says for some poses in class?

From the very first BYS in March (before MCO) for 12-week program, we came across the problems of students commiting full program and many more reasons that leading to drop-out happened in between. We continued to complete our BYS 1.0 after MCO, it was really hard to make everyone back to the mat for the rest of the sessions.

That is why we decided to condense the program into 8-week and make it slightly longer from 75-min to 90-min. We condensed it, by highlighting the essence of the program equally into the 8 sessions.

Practising yoga is a journey and this is the foundation for everyone. Workshop can be few hours to few days but what make it a difference is this is a program for you to understand yoga and stretch the body right at your very first step before you leap after this.

2. What do I learn throughout the program?

In Part 1, you will learn the correct breathing techniques and every single pose in Sun Salutation.

Sun Salutation consists of 12 steps which you may sometimes find it no idea how it works, especially the breathing and correct alignment (if you have been practicing for some time). A detailed sharing on anatomical focus will make you rethink and re-align your body for your future practice. And here is what the Part 1 intends to deliver, the essence of yoga for every body.

In Part 2, you will learn more on the basic yoga poses and master each pose introduced to you. You may have heard it, known it, tried it or even practice it, here we will need to use props to heighten the body awareness to remind ourselves which body muscles group is the key in the yoga pose and how we are going to blend our breathing into it to experience the true meaning of yoga asana/pose.

  • Fees-related

1. Can I just come and pay Part 1 then continue Part 2 when I feel ready?

Yes, you may opt for only Part 1 for three sessions. If you wish to continue the Part 2, you just need to pay the rest of 5 sessions at RM325 (RM65 per session).

2. Can I just come for Part 2?

You are highly advised not to do so as we are not going to repeat the essence we learned together from Part 1 in Part 2. Part 2 is the progressive learning stage where Part 1 is the foundation we have built on.

3. Can I just come few sessions?

If you have no time to commit all 8 weeks, you may opt for pay-as-you-come. However, pre-registration is NEEDED as mat spaces are limited. You can pay for the single drop-in session at RM70.

  • Studio/Hygience/Physical contact-related

1. Is the yoga studio hygienic?

Fret not! The yoga studio is designated for yoga practitioners, just like you and I. Floor disinfection is in place for every session and proper SOP is always the utmost thing to be adhered to. Come and experience by yourself.

2. How many pax can be occupied in the studio?

There are a max 14 mat spaces in the studio. However, BYS 2.0 will only open for 10 mat spaces for each session to ensure undivided attention for every student to reap the full benefits!

3. What does it mean no hands-on assist?

In yoga, we believe sometimes hands-on assist may allow practitioners, like most of us, to gain more body awareness to achieve self-alignment in some poses. Through hands-on assist, you may exactly feel which body muscles work the most or should have worked to stabilise and re-align the posture.

As physical social distancing is in mind, instructor will not apply direct hands-on assist in the class. However in some cases when verbal instruction is not effectively applied in some poses, the indirect hands-on assist such as using props to point to the right body muscles group may be happened. If you do not wish to have any indirect hands-on assist, please inform the instructor before the sessions start.

4. What if I do not have yoga mats?

You are advised to purchase and own a yoga mats due to personal hygience. NO sharing yoga mat is allowed.

5. Are yoga blocks/props/strap provided?

First THREE registered paid student for the full 8-week program will be entitled a pair of yoga blocks worth RM90, a special edition collaborating with Heart Beast, for free.

If you do not have yoga blocks, you are highly advised to purchase and use it for many purposes. For yoga straps, you may get any ropes or towel as your props for the class.

Once again, no sharing on mat and props to ensure the practice environment is safe and comfortable for everyone.

6. What if I forgot to bring my own yoga mat?

You may buy it on the spot at studio (giggling...). So, bringing your own yoga mat is the MUST-CHECK thing before leaving your doorstep.

  • Special request-related

1. Can I request a group just for me and my friends?

Yes, you can request a private group class with no additional fees on top of the published fees.

A minimum of 3 pax is required to start a separate class at your preferred time slot.

2. I wish to attend but some days I am not available to come, can I get replacement?

So sorry that replacement is not possible when there is one group of BYS 2.0.

If we have two groups of BYS 2.0, for eg one group at 9am and second group at 2pm, then you may come to the either slot whenever the initial time slot you could not make it.
